Classes for older children and teenagers are relaxed and informal and encourage artists to be independent with their choices and their creative ideas. Students will work on a theme each week to produce an artwork and will be offered resources, ideas and guidance to get them started.

Our developing Artists are encouraged to be expressive and independent with the development of their work to produce an individual and personal artwork.

We will discuss artists and their different techniques and we will learn appropriate techniques and processes as and when is relevant.

We can work towards a GCSE or A Level qualification, but students do not have to be taking Art GCSE to pursue art in their own time and it can greatly enhance their understanding and ability across the curriculum in other subjects.

Integrating the arts into a class not only has the easily observed and undisputed benefit of increasing student engagement and motivation, but it’s also been shown to increase student achievement.

"Common to all subject areas across the curriculum are various “overarching” skills and processes, such as synthesis, analysis, reasoning, and communication.
Integrating the fine arts with other disciplines........supports the development of these skills and processes."
